Located in historic Spencer, North Carolina, across from the North Carolina Transportation Museum, the Green Goat Gallery is housed in the former Sands Building, built at the turn of the 20th century.

The art and crafts showcased at the Green Goat range from traditional to abstract. Hand-carved wooden bowls and spoons can be found alongside elegant blown glass lamps, gourd thumbdrums, delicate hand-woven copper wire candle baskets, and recycled motherboard clocks. Many of the artists are local, most are regional, and some from far-flung places. All are chosen for their unique artistry and unparalleled excellence.

VILLAGE POTTERY, the marketplace of Seagrove, was founded in 1995 by Melanie Dennison. Melanie is a local potter, born and raised just 8 miles from Seagrove. Melanie’s career in clay has spanned over 20 years. She has distinguished herself, in fine juried art shows along the east coast, participating in 30 shows each year prior to opening this wonderfully diverse gallery.

VILLAGE POTTERY features Melanie’s work as well as the fine craftsmanship of over 140 other potters, artists, and craftsmen. The Museum of NC Traditional Pottery, Greensboro Area Convention & Visitors Bureau and Greensboro Coliseum Complex have joined together for the 2nd Annual Seagrove Pottery Festival in Greensboro that will be held April 23-25, 2010 at the Greensboro Coliseum. There will be different wineries offering wine tasting and sales available all weekend!

The Festival is the only time during the year that most of the Seagrove area potters showcase and sell their wares at one location. Pottery lovers and collectors come from all over the country to this event.
